Epimediums

Description –   This is very pretty flowering plant, the result of a cross between E. grandiflorum and E. pinnatum subs. colchicum. A very similar variety resulting from the same cross is E. x versicolor ‘Cupreum’. The inner sepals of both are coral pink but those of ‘Cupreum’ are supposedly a stronger pink. The petals are lemon yellow. This is a  semi -deciduous plant of small to medium height. The new leves are as pretty as the flowers and set them off beautifully. They are said to be more red in this variety than with 'Cupreum'  Our plant under this name was much admired when we took it to shows this spring (2015).

It is not as strong growing as E. x versicolor ‘Sulphureum’. We have bought both these varieties from a number of different nurseries, to hopefully ensure we have both different clones. Very few nurseries list both.
