Here they have quite a selection of Epimediums, and the majoritythey are growing in very little shade. This must be possible due to the higher rainfall received in Devon.

Sadly we haven’t as yet visited, but judging by the comprehensive accession list and photographs we have seen, this is the place to see Epimedium species in Europe.

Archangel Plants
La Pommasserie,
49390 Mouliherne,
near Saumur,
France,
hold the French National Collection of Epimediums at Maine et Loire (department 49). The Nursery is run by John and Carol Worrall, who immigrated to France in 1997. They moved themselves, their belongings and thousands of plants from their first nursery enterprise in Dorset, UK, to France. There they have a large informal garden adjacent to the nursery. They are situated north of Saumur, in between Angers and Tours, and are open to view the Epimediums during April and May at any time, but please contact via e-mail first. They have selected some promising Epimedium seedlings of their own raising, some of which we have been given as part of swaps, and are trialing here. Sadly we haven’t as yet visited.
