Distribution - China, Hunan province

Description – This is a fairly newly discovered and introduced species. It is evergreen species with simple or compound foliage (which is at odds with William T Stearns description, but he had only received dried herbarium material). Basal leaves are either simple or have three leaflets. Flowering stems carry two leaves each of three leaflets. Leaflets are sparsely margined with small spines and are brownish when young.. The flowers are of the downward curve spur type and are pate yellow. It appears so far to make a tight clump 30-45cm (12”-18”) high.
