Distribution - Southern and Central Europe including Northern Italy and the highlands of Serbia and Bosnia.
Description - This is a rather small flowered species, which is very vigorous.
In our opinion it is not a plant for the choicest spots in the garden. Even where a tough groundcover Epimedium is sought there are a number of better alternatives. e.g. two of E. alpinum hybrids: E.x rubrum (E. alpinum x grandiflorum) and E. x warleyense (E. alpinum x pinnatum subsp. colchicum) .
